Doherty Library holds many newspapers and magazines to help you complete the When You Were Born project.
To look up our holdings for a specific newspaper or magazine in any format, search for the name of the publication (e.g. National Geographic) in our Journals List. When you click through to the resource, you will usually be able to search for items from a specific date.
Click here to see a list of major online newspaper resources. These include the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Times of London. You can search all these resources by date. New York Times Historical is a great resource for this assignment because it lets you browse the original newspaper pages.
Academic Search Complete is a multi-subject database that allows you to search by date, and contains numerous magazines and newspapers.
National Geographic and other magazines are available in the library basement, where they are shelved alphabetically by title. Look for the volume labeled with your year of birth.
Time, US News and World Report, and other magazines are available in microform for the past few decades. Ask a reference librarian for assistance to use these titles.
