Q: How do I locate a book in the library?

To locate a book at Doherty Library, you will need to have the book's call number from the library catalog

General Book Collection

Books with call numbers beginning A-e are on the first floor, west wing (to the right as you enter the library). Most of Doherty Library’s main book collection starting with “G” call numbers are in an offsite storage facility. You may request books using the “Request Item” button in the library’s online catalog.

Reference and Special Collections

Books in the Reference Collection and other special collections are ordered by call number within those collection areas. The Reference Collection, Elllis Collections, and the Graduate Philosophy Collection are on the first floor, east wing.

Reading Call Numbers

Read the call number in alpha-numeric order, from the top down.
