Q

How do I save alerts and create RSS feeds from EbscoHost databases?

I would like to create updates and alerts for myself when new material is published in my field. How do I do this with Ebscohost databases like ERIC, PsychInfo, Business Source Complete or Academic Search Complete?

Answer

With alerts, you can tell our databases to send you new material on your topic as it becomes available.

You begin by signing up for an account in the database. Then create a search for the type of material you want-- new issues of a journal, for example, or new articles with a particular subject heading. Then save the search and tell the database to either email you updates or create an RSS feed which you can access through an RSS reader, such as Feedly or Reeder.

For detailed steps, EbscoHost provides the following tutorials on creating alerts and RSS feeds for saved searches. Other databases have similar information in their Help pages. For more information on RSS feeds, see "What is RSS" below.
